Combined Defence Services Exam (II) notification 2013

Want to become an officer in Indian Defence forces and looking for Combined Defence Services exam notification? UPSC is about to release notification of CDS exam (II). Check out eligibility criteria, how to apply, last date to apply.


Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) two times in a year in India. CDSE is held to shortlist candidates for SSB interviews. Recommended candidates by SSB boards will undergo training at Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Air Force Academy and Indian Naval Academy.

Number of vacancies available in CDS Exam

There are total five courses offered through Combined Defence Services Examination II 2013. Here is the distribution of vacancies. There are 250 vacancies available in Indian Military Academy 137th course. Out of these 250 seats, 32 vacancies are reserved for NCC C certificate holders of Army wing. There are total 40 vacancies in Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala. Out of these 40 Naval Academy vacancies, 6 vacancies are reserved for NCC Naval Wing C certificate holders. Air Force Academy Hyderabad 196th F(P) course has 32 vacancies. Whereas, Officers Training Academy's 100th SSC course for men contain 175 vacancies. OTA 14th SSC Women course (Non Technical) has 15 vacancies.

Eligibility criteria of CDS Exam II 2013

Candidates who want to apply for CDSE II have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria laid down by UPSC.

  • Applicant may be male or female.
  • Female candidates can apply for 14th SSCW Non Tech OTA course only.
  • All male candidates need to give their preferences while filling up the CDS exam applications.

Nationality

Applicant should be an Indian citizen or should be a subject of Bhutan / Nepal or a Tibetan refugee.

Age limit, sex and marital status for various courses of CDSE

For IMA 137th course, applicants should be male, unmarried and should have been born earlier than 2nd July 1990 but not after 1st July 1995.   For Indian Naval Academy, applicants should be male, unmarried and should have been born earlier than 2nd July 1992 but not after 1st July 1995. Whereas, NCC Naval Wing C certificate holders age is relaxed upto two years i.e., they should have born between 2nd July 1990 and 1st July 1995.   For Air Force Academy,  applicants should be male, unmarried and should have been born earlier than 2nd July 1991 but not after 1st July 1995.   For Officer's Training Academy SSC course for men, applicants should be male and should have been born earlier than 2nd July 1989 but not after 1st July 1995. Married males can also apply for this course.   For Officer's Training Academy SSC Women Non Tech course, applicants should be male and should have been born earlier than 2nd July 1989 but not after 1st July 1995. Only unmarried women and widows who have not given birth to any child may apply for the course.

How to apply for CDS Exam II 2013

In order to apply for CDS exam II 2013, candidates need to register in UPSC's official website. After that UPSC will issue hall tickets to the candidates who are eligible to apply. Once you got your admit card of CDSE II 2013, you may appear in the allotted UPSC center.

Update : UPSC has announced CDSE II 2013 results on 07th January 2014.
